I'm Broken...

This is my foot!!!

I have been in Egypt for the past week, and it has for sure been eventful!! Many stories to tell. I will get to them later, but I did want to tell one story. The day we drove home, we woke up at 2:00 in the morning and hiked up to Mount Sinai. It was an awesome hike, and not very hard at all. We got to see the sunrise and we got to have a testimony on that sacred mountain, then we hiked down. We drove to the border, and when I was looking for my luggage off the bus, my foot got stuck on the ground and I fell one way and my foot went the other. My foot swelled up, and it didn't help that I had to stand in line with all of my luggage for three hours to get through customs and security. I had Doctor Thomas wrap it, and I kept it elevated when I could but I definitely walked on it.
When we got back to Jerusalem, it was hard to walk because all of the stairs and almost no elevators, so I had to limp everywhere. I had Dr. Allen look at my now fully swollen blue and black foot, and he took me at once to the Israeli hospital. They took x-rays of my foot, and I saw that I had broken my 5th metatarsal badly.
I now have a soft cast while the swelling goes down. I am not allowed to put any pressure on my foot at all, and I have to stay in a wheelchair for at least five days. This means I had to move to the fifth floor this week, because there are elevators from there up, and I am not allowed to walk anywhere. I am having to rely on so many people, I feel helpless.
I am just grateful that I didn't break it before Egypt and before Mount Sinai.

  1. Oh Annie darling! Sorry about your foot! At least you'll get the VIP treatment? :) Not worth it, I'm sure...but a way to look at it. The 5th floor ought to be a great new experience...one which you would not have, had this not happened. I wonder why you were supposed to break your foot? Love it- embrace it! I love you!
