Every Monday we go on very fun fieldtrips, but yesterday I was unable to go on it. I have been walking much better and am almost completely done with using my wheelchair, but in this tunnel you have to walk through tunnels with lots of water in them. There are also lots of stairs on this fieldtrip which, while I able to walk up and down stairs...I am slow. So instead of going, the Allen's took me out on a day in the city with them. I had SO much fun!!!
First we went to a pita factory where they gave us fresh hot pitas right off the oven, and the Allen's bought pitas and bread from there. It was so delicious!
Then we went to a open-air market in West Jerusalem. This place was incredibly beautiful! Fruit and vegetables everywhere, and everything was so clean and orderly. Obviously it was a Jewish section of Jerusalem. We tried candied nuts, fruits, chick peas still in their pods, almonds still in their pods, and more! It was so fun!! The Allens bought some cherries, candied nuts, and aprocots for me! I really felt like their daughter for the day! I loved it!
We then went to a hardwear shop to do a couple errands for the Allens. The Brother Allen is the Doctor at the center (so obviously we have had lots of bonding time), and Sister Allen and Brother Allen are over housing. They had to buy bath mats for all of the couples serving in the center, and Sister Allen was nervous about picking out bath mats for all of the couples, so I did it! I chose a bath mat for each of the seven couples, being funny in all of them. A later post will explain them more thoroughly.
Lastly, we went to the Allen's favorite little lunch spot and they bought chocolate slushies for me and them! It was so delicious, and a nice treat after more walking than I have done in weeks! What a FABULOUS morning!! And it only got better as the day progressed...
Later, Sister Allen invited me to her appartment and we made cookies for my FHE group, and we just talked for a couple hours! I just love her! Thank goodness for her and Brother Allen for making missing a fieldtrip SO much fun!
