Day in the life of Sister Clark

Probably no pictures till next week. But here is her letter.

Dear mom and papa!

Thanks for giving that letter to Sister Brock. I do love the Brock family. They are amazing!

Ok, well a normal day is all depending on the day. We wake up at 6:30 and have exercise for a half hour, then get ready and eat until 8:00. At 8 we have personal study. Mostly, I am reading the Book of Mormon. It’s wonderful to get that much time to read it daily, I have never loved nor appreciated the Book of Mormon so much as now. Then at 8-9 we have companionship study where we plan lessons more in depth for the day. From 10-10:30 Sister Nemec has language study, which gives me time to do whatever I need to. Much of the time, it's cleaning up and getting everything ready to go out and find people to teach. Then until about noon we usually go to the park and talk to people and share the gospel with them. Then from noon to one we eat lunch at our flat. We never really go to Bicester in the morning, so we are always close to our flat to go home to eat. Sometimes we do eat dinner in the car if we aren't in Banbury for dinner. After lunch, we usually go out and do more finding, either by talking to people in the park, or by tracting. Usually we have found that talking to people in the park is more effective during the day than tracting. Then we usually have lots of appointments with less active members, recent converts, and investigators. at dinner, we either go home to eat, have a dinner appointment at a members home (which we just sent out a list in the ward to feed us, and there will be many more of those starting next week), and then we usually either find or have appointments until 9 when we come back home, plan, and get ready to go to sleep at 10:30. That is our days. But obviously every day is different, depending on when district meetings are, preparation days, and Sundays, it's different every day. Which is nice?

We are on a different computer today, and I don't know if I will be able to figure out how to send pictures. I will work on it once I am done with my letter. Today we are in Coventry for a zone p-day. We came up early, because I have to practice accompanying Elder Davies (my zone leader) because he will be singing with a group on Thursday for Zone conference with Elder Kapishka. So that should be fun. Right when we got here to Coventry, it started pouring cats and dogs, and I forgot my umbrella back in the flat, so I am soaked head to toe. Very fun.

This week I talked to our mission doctor, Elder Simonson, because I hit the tendon above my big toe with a door more than a month ago, and it's been hurting badly since, and I thought it would go away, but alas. So I talked to him, and his advice was for me to wear sandals when I can until it goes away. So I bought some sandals. He also said that he knew Grandma and Grandpa, and we talked about them for a minute. Very fun! It was another grandma moment. I feel like I am having them all the time! Everyone knows grandma and grandpa!

Oh, so I know in papa's journal that he says if we want to know about any of the family members, look at their prospective blogs and Facebook, but I am not able to do that. So can I maybe get an update of them too? I would love them to just send me a little blurb if they could, since they are allowed (my coined word) to email me at this email, but regardless, I would love to be updated on my sibling’s lives! Thanks!

I bet that quilting seminar was so much fun! I just got a bunch of fun postcards from papa, and one of them was one of Lake Tahoe. So much fun! You lucky girl! I also got the packet of postcards that were originally sent to Colorado and my shrunk down call, thank you thank you papa!

Thanks for the rhubarb pie recipe. We will see if we can make it. I love that so much.

That’s so fun that Linda Rollo sent you that email, and that you were able to watch that video about the harp competition! How fun that Angela was in it. I wonder if she watched it too when it was on. I can imagine that she wouldn't want to. Rewatching competitions can be almost as stressful as the competition itself. And about as frustrating when you don't win, even though she did amazingly well to be 8th place. Pretty incredible!!

So life with a new companion is fun! It means I have to remember more because I am now the one that knows these people the best, and I have to remember what they need and everything. Also, driving is great. I pretty much could get myself around Bicester and Banbury to the people’s houses I have been to without the sat nav, but I am grateful for it, because it adds security. You will be glad to know that Sister Nemec actually told me this week that I am driving like I have lived here in England all my life. She isn't nervous to be in the passenger seat! What an accomplishment! Ha-ha, I thought you would like that, parents. We are still having an awesome time together. We are getting to know the ward so well, and really being able to get in their homes, and also getting less-actives to church and making them feel comfortable.

Something that I have been working on really hard has been when we teach lessons and spiritual thoughts, I really want to make those scriptures come to life in these people’s lives so they will feel a relation to the scriptures and to the message, and actually be able to learn and grow from what we are teaching. And I have finally started to grasp that I can teach three verses 10 different ways, depending on what that person needs. It’s been very fun to work on, and we as a companionship are working really hard to become one in teaching. It’s so fun to grow and learn from each other.

I love this work. I see miracles every day from being obedient. One CRAZY thing that happened this week. We were finding in the park when I saw X. Yes, X is the one with the psycho mother who almost killed me. I saw her and immediately turned around and told sister Nemec we had to go, but she called me down, and we just said hi to her. She came right over to where we were, and started talking to us as if her mother hadn't wanted to kill us. I was shocked. Then she said that Y (X's 12 year old daughter) missed me and wanted me to come back. It was so weird. I told X that she could talk to her mom and if they decided they wanted to talk to us, they could, but we wouldn't go unless she called us, because frankly I am scared of her mom. Ha-ha, I told her that! So yeah, interesting end to that story. She hasn't called yet, and I doubt that she will. But wow, that was a shock. Slightly uncomfortable.

As to those that we are teaching. We are constantly working with less-actives in the ward, and there are many of them. As well, we are constantly trying to find new investigators. J is supposed to get baptized this Saturday, but she hasn't answered our calls for a few days now, and we are worried that something is wrong. So we are still trying to figure out how to resolve this. We are also teaching the Aguilar family, and they are amazing! They came to church, and we were so excited! Sunday morning, K A called and asked if she could come in fish net tights and a pleather skirt, and if C could come in sweat pants and a holey tee shirt. Hahaha, we were laughing so hard. They love calling us and joking around. They are amazing. I know they know that this gospel is true, but they just have to realize that they know it. We are so excited for the day when they decide to be baptized, which will hopefully be this week! I love them so much, and they will be an awesome addition to the church.

Basically, it's been a very busy, exhausting, fun, and hard working week. I love this gospel! I love teaching people, and I love bearing my testimony to them. I know there is power in the gospel, and in prayer and the Book of Mormon. This is such an amazing experience, and I am grateful that the lord sent me to Banbury to bless and be blessed by the wonderful people who live here. I love the Lord’s work! I know this gospel is true!

I love you all and I am grateful for all your letters and love and prayers! Thank you for everything!!!

Love,
Sister Clark
