MTC first week

Dear mom and papa,
So i got here last thursday, sorry i didn't call back mom! I was so busy and flustered. But hopefully david talked to you and said hi for me! I did see him, and it was completely wonderful! So i don't have much time, just thirty minutes, so i am going to try to get as much info to you as possible but i think i am going to copy my journal to send to you too. also, know that dear elder works, and i would love one as often as possible!

Time moves so weirdly here at the MTC. The days feel like weeks, but at the same time, the hours go by fast. i am loving it here. I have two companions, sister shearer from idaho who is an olympic gun shooter and sister kiernan from Alaska - they are both going to mesa arizona. Both are very nice, and sweet, and welcomed me in right away. we are learning together, and it is a wonderful experience for me!

What we do every day is many hours of study, broken up into companion study, class, and personal study. we are supposed to plan what we will study every time we have that time, and we are still working on that. I have two teachers, brother bunker and brother M'Quay. Both teach very differently. And only brother bunker has made me cry so far, so i am doing well! I have only cried once this whole week!!! success. we have gym every day that we can go out to the field just west of the temple, and we love it! It has been beautiful weather, so sometimes we study outside also.

During gym, our companionship usually jogs and stretches and does sit ups. this week we started going to an early morning class at six only for sister and we do step aerobics, yoga, kick boxing, and other things like that. i love it! And we are going every day now. we met our branch presidency the night i got here, and we had interviews with them, and they chose our district leader, and taught us what to do as a district. our president is presdent Lafferty, and he is a kind man, who really cares about us.

Friday we started out doing service. basically a couple districts clean a whole building. our companioniship cleaned all of the bathrooms in the building and all the light switches and door knobs. no getting sick for us! We cleaned so well. Sister Kiernan is so funny, she is really giggly, but not super ditsy. she just laughes a lot. she wanted us to sing hymns while we cleaned so we did. she is funny. but we have fun in our companionship and we get along for sure. we also had a large group meeting for some of the new elders and sisters and it was a great meeting. brother taylor taught and i found the scripture i want to live up to on my mission. Its mosiah 28:3. he could not bear that any soul should perish; yea even the very thought that any soul should endure torment did cause the earth to quake and tremble." i want to have that much love for my investigators.

saturday, we started out with gym in the morning and then i saw david!

Well actually i saw his little car, and knew he was there, so i went and found him. hopefully he posted that picture so you can see it! I was SO excited! I am sad he won't be here when i leave. i would love him to drive me to the airport. i also saw greg williams (ryan's little brother) he now works at the mtc. it was very weird to run into him. in class we do all sorts of wonderful things. you think we wouldn't have anything that would take 6 hours in a classroom, but don't worry. we do. we started role playing. people would act as non memeber people we know, and then we would teach each other the first lesson, and learn to get their trust. the key is that they trust us. that is the most important thing besides memebers trusting us. i am seeing myself improve in remarkable ways already. wow! the spirit is here all the time, and everyone is so happy. everyone says hi to everyone in their perspective languages, and we teach people walking around the mtc all the time. its getting much easier to talk to people we don't know.

sunday we went to the music and the spoken word. only sisters can go because the gym is being redone, so there isn't room for all the elders too. it was an amazing program and i miss listening to music. we can't listen to music here at the mtc. i hope i can in my mission! after, we had relief society, and then a new sister meeting. we we taught on what to wear and how to act as missionaries. then we went to lunch. after lunch was sacrament meeting. we all had to write talks and then the branch pres could pick any one of us to speak. it prepares us for when we will randomly speak at church. scary! i didn't get called, thank goodness. we then walked up to the temple, and took pictures. the temple is beautiful and sundays are wonderful and relaxing. i love them!! we even took a nap. i never did get over my early flight tiredness. now i am better. but days are tiring. so MUCH to do!

monday we went to power pump with the sisters then went to class. we prepared a lesson for a woman at the TRC whose husband had recently died. it was really nice. we got to know her and she trusted us. we still have things to work on of course ,but the main thing is we really prepared and tried! our teacher watched us on video and gave us comments. we teach her a second lesson next week. very fun. that night we had class with brother bunker. we had to prepare for lessons in that class too to teach him. he was acting as one of his old investigators, and we didn't do a good job. it was super hard, and he didn't make us feel great about it, and so that night was pretty emotional. i wanted to go home, for a second. but i dont' really. i want to be here. and i am happy that i am here, even thuogh its harder than anything i have ever done, and it is stretching me in every way.

tuesday we did yoga and it started out as a much better day. poor sister shearer wasn't feeling great. it was still a hard day for her. that last night was rough. we went to the call center, and worked there for an hour and a half . for that long calling people, i had only one person answer. it made me actually wish someone would so i could teach them! I am getting more and more passionate about the work every day. we had another large group meeting which was wonderful, but the devotional last night was incredible!!! it taught us how we need to work with members, what me need to ask them, how to gain their trust and so on. it was incredible, and life changing. he committed us to ALWAYS be obedient. the spirit will always be with us if we are obedient. also the organist of the meeting was incedible. mom, you would hav ebeen impressed! so i choose that i will be obedient and always act as a servent of the lord.

i love you and miss you! thank you for sending me on a mission, and helping me go. i know i couldn't do it without you mom and papa! I love it here and am learning something new every day! My testimony is getting stronger with every scripture i read! Thank you for everythign! feel free (!!!) to write me dear elders. they are free and same day deliverary, even if it just says i love you. i need it! I love you very much! thank you everyone for your prayers, packages, and letters. i treasure them all!! also, if you would send me any family pics i would love it. ones of the nephews too! i love you!
love,
Sister Clark
